Our first holiday…
I had been looking forward to visiting Cornwall ever since I first met Dave as I had actually never been and the stories he told me of when he used to go with his dad sounded like right up my street!
Once we had packed the car with literally everything we could possibly need for LT for the ‘just in case’ scenario we were off on our adventure.
I was a little anxious about the drive as it was quite a distance to travel in the car with a 5-month-old baby but LT was great and we decided to leave a day early and break up the journey in Dorchester.
We arrived on a slightly murky Monday morning in Perranporth but we were super excited to go and explore the Haven site.
Our caravan was a standard 4 berth, fully equipped with everything we needed for the week. The only slight issue we had was the travel cot wouldn’t fit into the “bigger” bedroom so we ended up with a makeshift bed for LT #badparenting!!!
We spent the week walking along the cliff tops and down on the amazing sandy beach. Dave braved the sea to do some “surfing” which took him right back to his childhood.
I think he forgot we had a 5-month-old baby in the process though; we set up camp on the beach one day in our mini tent to shade us from the sun with a picnic and toys for LT. We had literally just got the tent up and he was off running down the beach like a scene from Baywatch (minus the red trunks) and it felt like I didn’t see him again until he was hungry and wanted his lunch.
Thanks David. (Can you tell I’m annoyed even thinking about it as I refer to him as David?) I think he eventually realised I wasn’t impressed when I looked like I wanted to punch him in the face…
We ate all the things you have to eat when in Cornwall, a cream tea, proper fish and chips, Cornish ice cream & Cornish pasties. It was great just being the 3 of us, as although we love being with our family and wouldn’t ever change it, we were able to have some quality time together.
Mummy & LT relaxing together.
I think it was the first time in ages I had laughed so much I thought I might wet myself (maybe also the fact I’d not long had a baby too!). Dave provided endless comical moments to keep me entertained, mainly in the evenings when we were trying to be super quiet in the caravan as every move you made could have woken the baby.
I would try to set the scene for you but it wouldn’t come across the same, I suppose you could say it was one of those “you had to be there moments”. So, luckily for you, I managed to capture a couple on film….enjoy!!!
In the above video, Dave decides it would be a good idea to open up a tent filled with sand inside our caravan whilst searching for a lost toy of LT’s…..Don’t ask.
In the video above Dave watches the video of the tent disaster, wait until the point that he realises he may have heard the baby monitor go off; priceless!
All in all, I loved our first family holiday as a threesome and we are already planning when we can go back to Perranporth again.
Check out Dave’s account of the holiday here.
Until next time….
Be excellent to each other.
